In its recommendation 3/6, the Subsidiary Body on Implementation at its third meeting invited the co-chairs of the contact group on item 6, established during part II of SBI-3, to facilitate an informal consultative process on resource mobilization, with a view to enhancing mutual understanding of the issues at hand and of the expectations by the Parties, and to explore opportunities for convergence (paragraph 3). Parties also recommended to make the outcomes of the informal consultative process on resource mobilization available to the Open-ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework for its consideration, when it continues its deliberations in future meetings, and to the Conference of the Parties at its fifteenth meeting as appropriate (paragraph 4).

As requested in the recommendation, two meetings open to all Parties are organized, in a virtual format, before the fourth meeting of the Open-ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. Notification 2022-031, dated 25 May 2022, invited Parties to designate up to two representatives to participate in the meetings. The meetings are scheduled to take place Tuesday, 7 June 2022, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (EDT) and on Thursday, 9 June 2022, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (EDT).
