Meeting
Tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10)

During this International Year of Biodiversity, UNDESA/UNCRD intends to address the nexus of Biodiversity and Human Security in the context of Regional Development. In many developing countries, people’s livelihood directly depend on natural resources generated from biodiversity and ecosystem services, and therefore sustainable use of biodiversity is considered critical towards ensuring human security as well as achieving the Millennium Development Goals. The side-event, co-organized by United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) and UNCRD Cooperation Association, will present some case studies and panel discussion on how biodiversity is important in ensuing human security and sustainable regional development.
