Tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10)

Employing adaptive management principles and techniques, this side event discusses opportunities to use national legal and regulatory frameworks to adapt biodiversity management to climate change and strengthen resiliency in biodiversity governance. The Environmental Law Institute will release final drafts of a detailed resource manual with options for designing adaptive legal frameworks, along with a report for policymakers on the need to assess adaptive capacities in governing institutions. This project is guided by a coalition of advising partners from institutions in developing countries, including the National Environment Commission (Bhutan); Law and Policy of Sustainable Development (Vietnam); Development and Environmental Law Center (Madagascar); Sociedad Peruana de Derecho Ambiental (Peru); Instituto de Abogados para la Proteccion del Medio Ambiente (Dominican Republic); and Greenwatch (Uganda).
