Both the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the international protected area community have hailed the Programme of Work on Protected Areas (PoWPA) as the most successfully implemented of the CBD programmes. A unique partnership between the CBD, civil society, NGOs, Parties, donors and implementing agencies, combined with six key factors of success, have been critical to the success of the implementation of the PoWPA. You are invited to attend this side event to learn more about the “Friends of PoWPA” partnership and the factors of success: commitment, capital, coordination, communication, communication, collaboration and capacity, and to share your thoughts on how this can be scaled up to help achieve the Aichi Targets of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020.
