This side event will review and evaluate the effectiveness of the Biosafety Protocol for the protection of human health and the environment. Following the presentation by distinguished experts of the Protocol, the discussion among commentators with different views will be focused on the folowing issues: Is the Protocol to protect human health and the environment effective?; if not, what are reasons and problems?; how we can solve the problems and enhance the effectiveness of the Protocol?
