Organizer
MINISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT JAPAN (MOEJ) AND JAPAN INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AGENCY(JICA)

Date and Time
14 October 2014 18:15 - 19:45

Meeting
Twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity

This side event will be “the initial review session” in the series of four CBD COP side events up to 2020 when the Aichi Biodiversity Targets will be concluded. Our prime objective of the side events is to discuss effective approaches and strategies to achieve the Targets and make recommendations for the subsequent targets in 2020. As the first attempt this year at COP 12, we will explain the overall framework of the series of side events including Japan’s NBSAP and JICA’s conservation strategies, and selected topics will be presented for discussion, including a summary of the Japan Biodiversity Fund at the SCBD and JICA’s projects in partner nations such as Costa Rica and Malaysia. Also planned is a panel discussion with representatives from the Secretariats of CBD, Ramsar and UNESCO’s MAB, to be followed by mutual communication with the participants on the floor. We hope to create fruitful discussions up to 2020.
