Notification 2005-051
In paragraph 5 of decision VII/12 on sustainable use, the Conference of the Parties requested the Executive Secretary to convene a series of technical expert workshops on ecosystem services assessment, financial costs and benefits associated with conservation of biodiversity, and sustainable use of biological resources. Pursuant to this decision, and with financial assistance from the Government of the Netherlands, the Secretariat is organizing the Central and Eastern European Regional Expert Workshop on Sustainable Use. The workshop will take place in Moscow, at the kind invitation of the Government of Russia, from 30 May to 2 June 2005.
Dear Madam/Sir, In paragraph 5 of decision VII/12 on sustainable use, the Conference of the Parties requested the Executive Secretary to convene a series of technical expert workshops on ecosystem services assessment, financial costs and benefits associated with conservation of biodiversity, and sustainable use of biological resources. Pursuant to this decision, and with financial assistance from the Government of the Netherlands, the Secretariat is organizing the Central and Eastern European Regional Expert Workshop on Sustainable Use. The workshop will take place in Moscow, at the kind invitation of the Government of Russia, from 30 May to 2 June 2005. I am pleased to inform you that further to Notification No. 2005-023, the Secretariat has completed the selection of participants, from among government-designated experts. Representatives of competent intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations will also participate as observers. The list of selected experts is attached to this notification. They will be formally invited to participate in the workshop. Participants will be requested to present case studies on the sustainable use of biological resources in their home countries.
