Dear Madam/Sir, I would like to invite Parties, other governments and relevant organizations to submit information to the Secretariat on the value of traditional and sustainable land use practices contributed by indigenous and local communities in preserving mountain biodiversity. In paragraph 14 of decision VII/27 on mountain biological diversity, the Conference of the Parties requests the Executive Secretary to collect and disseminate information on the value of traditional and sustainable land use practices contributed by indigenous and local communities in preserving mountain biodiversity through the clearing-house mechanism and other means. Parties, other governments, relevant organizations and indigenous and local communities are invited to submit information on the above, along with the completed attached cover form (Annex), at their earliest convenience but no later than 22 December 2006. I thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter and your continued support to the work of the Convention. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
