Dear Madam/Sir, I am pleased to invite you to participate in a webinar on managing biodiversity as a moving target, titled "Conservation when nothing stands still: Dryland cases", to take place on 27 January 2015, at 3 p.m. GMT. The webinar will present cutting-edge research on proposed approaches for dealing with moving conservation targets, including mobile protected areas. The webinar will address topics such as ecosystem management and resilience-building, especially in dry and sub-humid lands, with case studies shared from dryland areas in Uzbekistan and the United States of America. The webinar, presented by Dr. Joseph Bull of the Imperial College London, will focus on how to manage biodiversity, which is dynamic and in motion (e.g. migratory species, habitats undergoing rapid change due to climate drivers) and the policy relevance of this concept. It will be based on a peer-reviewed paper on this topic, published in Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment and available online at: http://www.esa.org/esa/documents/2013/05/frontiers-bull-et-al-frontiers-may-2013-issue.pdf. The webinar is targeted towards Focal Points of the Convention on Biological Diversity and from other biodiversity-related multilateral environmental agreements, participants in the NBSAP Forum, national biodiversity managers and other technical specialists.
