Dear Madam/Sir, As previously announced, the Thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, and the Second meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization will take place from 4 to 17 December 2016 in Cancun, Mexico. I am pleased to inform you that the “Information Note for Participants” for these meetings is now available on the CBD website (https://www.cbd.int/doc/meetings/cop/cop-13/other/cop-13-info-note-en.pdf). Please note that information contained therein will be updated as details become available. I am also pleased to announce that the online registration for side-events for these meetings is now available (https://www.cbd.int/side-events). Governments and partner organizations who may wish to organize side-events are kindly requested to submit the theme and suggested time slot for the side-event as soon as possible but no later than 15 September 2016. Please note that the allocation of side-events will be based on the availability of space. The final list of side events will be posted on 11 October 2016.
